It is my 40th birthday. I am entering into my 5th decade on the planet with debt from my 30s, 20s, and even some I started when I was 18 and went to college. I'm a bit sad about this, but the light at the end of the tunnel is getting brighter. The more stories I hear of people in more debt than me, the less hopeless I feel.
At this rate, $32,806 / 36 = $911 per month. It's a lot, but I can do it. (This is ignoring interest of course.) So maybe, $1,000 per month? And try not to rack up any more debt in the mean time? I just have 9 more payments on my big loan that I pay $617 per month on. I think after that weight is lifted I can get more aggressive with paying the highest interest debts. Oh, and maybe I can even start some sort of real savings account (I currently just have over $600 in a regular saving account) or *gasp* a retirement account? whoah.
Let's do this. Let's pay off this debt in 3 years.
Cheers, y'all.
